Trump advised Medvedev to "watch his words," claiming he's "treading into very dangerous territory". This comes after Medvedev criticized Trump's threat to impose punitive tariffs on Russia and its oil buyers, stating it's "a game of ultimatums" that could lead to war between the two nations. Trump told Medvedev to "watch his words" in a post on his Truth social network, calling Medvedev a "failed ex-president of Russia who still thinks he's in charge". Medvedev shot back, reminding Trump of Russia's nuclear strike capabilities, specifically the Soviet-era "Dead Hand" system, a semi-automated command system designed to launch nuclear missiles if Russia's leadership is taken out in a decapitating strike. Trump stated he doesn't care about India's dealings with Russia, saying "they can take their dead economies down together" due to high tariffs and minimal business between the US and India, as well as the US and Russia. The tensions between Trump and Medvedev come as Trump threatened Russia with tariffs if it doesn't agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine within 10 days.
