Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again raised concerns about PM Modi’s silence after U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent claim regarding the India-Pakistan conflict. At a private dinner, Trump stated that “five jets were shot down,” referring to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Gandhi shared the video of Trump's remarks on X, asking: "Modi ji, what is the truth about the 5 jets? The nation deserves to know! 🇮🇳❓"
Trump, in his 24th such statement, suggested that he mediated a ceasefire between the two nations through trade threats, even claiming that "planes were being shot out of the air." However, he didn’t specify whether the jets were Indian or Pakistani.
In response, Congress senior leader P. Chidambaram criticized the government’s silence. He urged the government to clarify the truth about the conflict, saying, “If there’s no response, what do we believe?”
The BJP swiftly reacted. Amit Malviya, BJP IT head, accused Gandhi of “echoing anti-India sentiments” and questioned why he assumed the jets were Indian. He added, "Does Gandhi have more sympathy for Pakistan than for India? 🤔"
The Congress party has been vocal about Modi's silence, arguing it compromises the nation’s dignity. MP Jairam Ramesh also urged the Prime Minister to address the issue in Parliament, given his past closeness with Trump during events like ‘Howdy Modi’ and ‘Namaste Trump.’
Despite Trump’s repeated claims, India maintains that the ceasefire was reached after direct communication between military officials of both nations, not due to U.S. intervention.
